Who is a Wellbeing Assessor?

The Wellbeing Assessor for Winchester is Jess Redway. She has a background studying mental health and has had placements in a range of settings including CMHT, perinatal, and older persons. She will be working in the Wellbeing Assessor role full-time across St Clements, Friarsgate and St Paul’s surgeries.


Who is it for?

The Wellbeing Assessor will see people from age 16 up who are experiencing mental health difficulties.

This may include:

  • People who do not meet the criteria for CMHT
  • People who need more support than their GP can offer or who are having repeat appointments with their GP to support their mental healthPeople who have been discharged from CMHT and require some support to continue their recovery

This does not include:

  • People in a mental health crisis who would be better referred to CMHT
  • People with no specific mental health needs who would be better referred to the Social Prescriber
  • People who lack capacity


What will the Wellbeing Assessor do?

The Wellbeing Assessor will support people with their mental health. They will:

  • Offer 45-minute appointments
  • Help the person to identify goals to work towards
  • Help the person to create a plan of activities and actions to support their mental wellbeing
  • Work alongside the Social Prescriber, iTalk practitioner, and peer support worker
  • Be able to refer directly to services such as the Wellbeing Centre and iTalk
  • Signpost to other organisations, support and activities
  • Offer follow up appointments to assess whether goals are being met and review the plan if needed


How to refer to the Wellbeing assessor?

GP initiated referral only. Appointments can be made through the registered practices EMIS clinical system using 'cross org appts'.


Where will the Wellbeing assessor be?

The wellbeing assessor will be based at the following locations but open to serve all practices. Any practice, can book any available appointment.

  • Friarsgate - Wednesday and Thursday
  • St Clements - Tuesday and Friday
  • Winchester Wellbeing Centre - Monday
